Supervision and Consultation

I have over 20 years experience working with individuals and families of all ages and genders impacted by violence, abuse and neglect. I offer supervision to other professionals working in this field, or those who are interested in accessing supervision which has a trauma lens.

I have worked for NSW Health, non-government organisations and Universities and have provided clinical supervision to students, junior colleagues and on request to clinicians employed in related fields including child protection and child and youth mental health services. Please review my LinkedIn profile for more information about my work history: linkedin.com/in/julie-porteous-719186380

I have undertaken additional training as a clinical supervisor, including:

  • Health Education and Training Institute Allied Health Supervision Program - Laying the Foundations Supervisors Workshop (2025; half day)

  • Health Education and Training Institute Allied Health Supervision Program - Overcoming Obstacles Supervisors Workshop (2025; half day)

  • Health Education and Training Institute - Growing as an Allied Health Clinical Supervisor (2025; self-paced online module)

  • Cara House - Taking Them Where They Ought To Go: Supervision Workshop (2025; 2 day workshop).

Julie is also available for one-off consultations on complex cases/clients on request, for individual workers or for teams.

"I am really enjoying clinical supervision with Julie. Julie is able to hold the space for open, curious and reflective thinking about clinical cases, use of self, team dynamics, ethical dilemmas and other systemic issues. Julie has shared some exceptional resources with me that I have used and shared myself with others. This supervision provides the thinking space, pressure valve and quality control I need to stay fresh and focused in a complex clinical role."
