My Approach

At Sea Glass Sydney Counselling and Consulting, my client-centered approach, combined with my expertise in trauma-informed care, allows me to work with clients on their goals, so that their experiences of trauma, abuse and violence have less impact on their day-to-day life. My approach is rooted in empathy, empowerment, and evidence-based practice. I am committed to providing a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

I work with the individual or family to ascertain and meet their needs, and work at their pace, on their priorities. My approach is collaborative, recognising that my clients are the experts of their own lives and have important knowledge of which techniques and strategies are likely to benefit them. Physical and emotional safety comes first, and I work with clients to ensure they have a toolbox of techniques that they can use to increase their capacity to tolerate triggers and memories of the traumatic events, and have a support network around them that they can call on when times are challenging.

For many of my clients, harm has occurred in relationships, so I recognise that it can be very frightening to reach out for support and place trust in another person. At the same time, a therapeutic relationship can be a significant opportunity to heal and grow, and to learn what healthy and respectful relationships look like. For this reason, the relationship you build with your counsellor is critical.

I am passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of those I work with and I actively seek feedback from my clients on their progress. If you are ready to take the next steps in recovering from trauma, violence and abuse, I am here to walk alongside you.
